Lebanon Valley College, also referred to as LVC, Lebanon Valley or The Valley, is a small, liberal arts higher education institution situated in the heart of Annville, which is a township and census-designated place in Lebanon County, in the US state of Pennsylvania, with over 4500 people, living within its limits, at the time of the 2000 census.
The college was established in February, 1866, and was founded by, and initially associated with, the Church of the United Brethren in Christ. Today, Lebanon Valley is affiliated with the United Methodist Church, and offers its students degrees, majors and special programs, in a wide range of study areas, also offering special options, such as departmental honors, double majors, independent study, or individualized majors.
LVC's athletic teams are nicknamed the Flying Dutchmen and they compete in the Commonwealth Conference and the American Collegiate Hockey Association, at the NCAA Division III level. Their distinctive colors are blue and white.
Among the famous people, who have studied at The Valley, there are also: Malcolm Lazin - founder and executive director of Equality Forum, the largest international LGBT civil rights forum, Charlie Gelbert - former Major League Baseball player, and Dr. Daniel W. Fox - credited with inventing LEXAN polycarbonate, which is used in CDs, DVDs, and Nalgene products.
